Customs

The languages spoken are spanish and english. Spanish is more common. When greeting somone, Dominicans usually give a handshake and ask "¿Cómo está usted?" (How are you). Or they simply just say "Hola" (hello). When entering, always greet everyone, if you know them or of them. It is considered rude not to. And after greeting someone, always be sure to say goodbye when you leave. When pointing, one uses puckered lips and not a finger.
